A massive 1.2 Tonnes of MDMA hidden in Aluminium rollers was seized today by Federal Police due to information provided by Border Force officers. The enormous ecstasy haul is the biggest drug bust for 2016 and the fourth largest MDMA seizure in Australian history.
With supposedly enough MDMA to make more than 4.1 million ecstasy pills. Law enforcement have guesstimated a valuation of A$145 million / US$110 million. Though some quick maths suggests they arrived at that valuation by assuming each individual pill would be sold for $35 a piece [potentially the going rate for pills on a Friday night at the local police club].
Police discovered the drugs when they raided a storage facility located in Hornsby (Sydney) on Monday. The MDMA is thought to have originated in the Czech Republic where it was carefully wrapped in xray blocking lead and concealed in aluminium rollers before finding its way down under. Police say they believe a large international syndicate is responsible. [clever]
